Carpet Cleaning FAQ — Burbank, CA

Common questions from homeowners in Burbank and the surrounding area. If your question isn't here, call us and we'll give you a straight answer.

Drying time: when is the carpet usable again?

Most Burbank jobs are dry to the touch in 4 to 6 hours, and fully dry within about 8. The low humidity here helps, and running the A/C or a ceiling fan pulls the last of the moisture out faster. You can walk on it in socks or clean shoes as soon as we pack up. Wait until it is fully dry before putting rugs back down or setting heavy furniture on the pile.

What does a cleaning appointment look like from arrival to finish?

We start by walking the rooms with you and noting traffic lanes, spots, and any areas you want handled carefully. Then we vacuum, move what furniture we can, pre-treat the soiled areas, and let the solution sit long enough to break the soil loose. Extraction comes next, working in overlapping passes with a dry stroke at the end of each. We finish with a grooming rake, set protective pads under any furniture legs we replaced, and show you the results before we leave.

Hot-water extraction, shampooing, dry cleaning: which one will you use in my home?

Hot-water extraction is our default. It flushes grit out of the base of the fiber, which matters in Burbank because Santa Ana wind events drive fine dust off the Verdugos and the valley floor into your carpet. Shampooing has a place on heavily soiled commercial-grade loop carpet where agitation does more than flushing. Low-moisture dry cleaning is for wool, some Karastan and Masland goods, and situations where a room has to be back in service within the hour. We tell you which method fits your carpet before we start.

How often should carpet be professionally cleaned?

Once a year covers a quiet household. Two or three times a year is more realistic with kids, dogs, or a house right off a busy corridor. Air conditioning runs long months here and recirculates the same dust back into the fibers, so Burbank carpet loads up faster than the manufacturer schedules assume. Shaw and Mohawk warranties generally require professional cleaning on a set interval, so check your paperwork if the carpet is still under coverage.

What determines the price of the job?

Square footage is the starting point, then the number of rooms, stairs, and how much furniture has to be worked around. Condition matters too: a carpet with heavy traffic lanes, pet accidents, or years of built-up grit needs more pre-treatment and more passes. Fiber type plays in as well, since wool and some Anderson Tuftex constructions get a gentler process. The estimate is free, and you get a firm quote in writing before anyone touches the carpet. If we find something unexpected under a sofa, we stop and talk to you first.

Do you move furniture, or should I clear the rooms first?

We move sofas, chairs, coffee tables, and light dressers as part of the job and set them back on pads. We do not move beds, pianos, large china cabinets, electronics, or anything holding a full aquarium. If you can carry off small items, lamps, and floor clutter ahead of time, we spend the appointment cleaning instead of shuffling. In the older bungalows and ranch homes where rooms are tight, clearing ahead improves the result.

Are there spots you can remove and spots that are there for good?

Food, drink, mud, grease, most pet accidents, and general traffic soil usually come out, especially on Stainmaster and other treated fibers. Coffee, red wine, and juice respond well when they have not been scrubbed in first. What we often cannot fix is dye damage: bleach, benzoyl peroxide from acne wash, some plant fertilizers, and pet urine left long enough to strip the color. Old cellulosic browning and burn marks are also permanent, though a patch or repair may be an option. We tell you which category your spot falls into during the walkthrough.

Is the process safe with pets and small kids in the house?

Yes. Our solutions are neutral-rinse and low-residue, and we extract them back out rather than leaving them in the pile. Nothing we use leaves a chemical smell that lingers past drying. We do ask that pets and children stay off the wet carpet until it dries, mainly so no one slips going from wet carpet onto hard floor. If anyone in the home has a specific sensitivity, tell us when you book and we will adjust the products.

Can you clean upholstery, area rugs, and tile too?

We do all three. Sofas, sectionals, dining chairs, and mattresses get cleaned with the fabric-appropriate method after we test for colorfastness. Area rugs can be handled in place or taken for a full wash if they are wool, silk-blend, or badly soiled. Tile and grout cleaning uses a pressure rinse with recovery, which is useful in kitchens and entries in the postwar slab-on-grade homes around town. Bundling these with a carpet appointment saves you a second trip charge.

Can you come out today, and where do you work?

Same-day slots are often open, especially mid-morning and early afternoon. Call early and we will tell you whether we can reach you today or the next morning. We cover Burbank, which sits in the eastern San Fernando Valley at the base of the Verdugo Mountains and Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles County, plus the surrounding valley communities. We work in everything from the 1920s Spanish Colonial and California bungalow flats to the 1960s-80s stucco apartment and dingbat buildings along the flatter corridors.
